Lucie Glang – Little Me (ft Joe Pope) (2024)

A project beginning during the Covid-19 pandemic years, Lucie Glang took time to reflect on her music, find her voice, and began sharing songs internationally. Using the spirit of remote collaboration, Glang’s brand of folk-pop filtered across the internet working with artists and producers across the globe – collaborations that can be heard on her back catalogue. Today, we take a gander (or rather a listen) to her most recent release, ‘Little Me’ featuring producer Joe Pope.

Penned in 2021, ‘Little Me’ was merely a little recording sent from Germany-based Glang to US-based Pope; skip ahead a few years and Glang shares the track internationally in 2024. Ending a busy year focusing on releases and live shows, ‘Little Me’ is a kaleidoscopic mish-mash of folk and pop.

Produced, mixed and mastered by Joe Pope, there is a vintage folk tone to the track; however, a contemporary pop vibe slices through threading together Lizzy McAlpine, Adele and Fleetwood Mac – well, sort of. The truth is, while Glang may fall in line with the folk-pop genre, there is a lilt to her vocals making her stand tall at the hypothetical folk-pop musical picnic.

A simplistic combination of acoustic guitar, folk-inspired drums, and charming vocals, ‘Little Me’ is a calming, soothing track. Holding you in a comfortable hug, Glang takes you along the musical journey; however, just as the song is mellifluous, Lucille Mille’s string arrangement injects a simultaneously haunting and endearing element. I find this ideal as it captures the core essence of the song’s theme – life and living in the moment.

Life is filled with scary tragedy, hopeful happiness, optimism, pessimism and millions of other emotions, but it is only in retrospect that we understand it all. ‘Little Me’ is a letter to Glang’s younger self reflecting on intimate life experiences –  “…a beautifully written and produced conversation with your younger self that anyone going through tough times in the past can relate to… underlining the good that comes with change.”

In addition to the single, Lucie Glang released an official music video for ‘Little Me’. You can view the video below and on her YouTube channel.
