LOZ – It’s Gonna Be Okay (2023)
Inspired by the likes of Pink, Taylor Swift, Noah Cyrus and Ethel Cain, singer-songwriter LOZ uses his calming tones to share intimate vulnerability. The UK-based solo artist began singing at age 17 and creating music at age 16. Since those early days, the twenty-something artist has performed at notable venues (Whiskey Jar, The Bread Shed, RNCM Concert Hall) and received critical acclaim from notable press. In fact, Sinusoidal Music described LOZ as “…touching and inspiring…” The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘It’s Gonna Be Okay’.
With a forthcoming album set for release in May, LOZ has been flexing his musical muscles and plans to release a single each month in February, March, April and May – let’s take a look at his February single ‘It’s Gonna Be Okay’. Recorded in his bedroom, LOZ brings a raw innocence to his material speaking from the heart. Acoustic-inspired with dynamic drums, powerful guitars and an interspersed piano “plink plonk”, LOZ’s melody lies somewhere between Pink and Taylor Swift. Yet, while the instrumentation can send you off on a sonic cloud, it is LOZ’s signature falsetto that touches your soul.
Vulnerable, intricate and intensely intimate, ‘It’s Gonna Be Okay’ is another LOZ single connecting with audiences on a deeper level. LOZ explains that ‘It’s Gonna Be Okay’ “is about understanding that life right now can and might be shit, but you gotta stick through it and see the other side. This song is for anyone who feels tired, worn down or needs a little break, particularly people who struggle with mental health and don’t have many safe spaces or songs to go to…”
Sincere, sentimental and tender, ‘It’s Gonna Be Okay’ is a poignant song filled with heavy emotion. The thing is, while there is a lyrical and melodic heaviness to the track, LOZ clears the air and helps the light shine through with every syllable. A refreshing breath in a stagnating pool of darkness, LOZ has created something anthemic in ‘It’s Gonna Be Okay’.
