Love Ghost – Luna Azul (2024)

Love Ghost in itself is an amazing band with a remarkable sound that is almost impossible to forget. Certain bands make an impression but Love Ghost creeps into your heart and makes itself comfortable in your soul. We were introduced to the US-based group in 2020 with the well-received single ‘Outer Space’ and continue to be astounded with each release. A little late to the party, Love Ghost has already turned heads on an international scale since 2016 and continues to hold people captive with international tours, collaborations with award-winning producers and artists, frequent plays on global radio stations and additions to various playlists.

As I mentioned, Love Ghost in itself is a remarkable band; however, their innovation and creativity heightened over the last year. Heading to Mexico, vocalist and frontman Finnegan Bell collaborated with numerous Mexican artists expanding Love Ghost’s reach and sound. Staying true to the band’s signature pop-punk style, Bell collaborated with Blnko in the pop-rock/pop-punk single ‘Veneno’ and the rock sound continued with ‘Payback’. Spreading their wings further afield, they embraced the rap rock tones of FLVCKKA in ‘Haunted House’, metal clashes with Dan Garcia in ‘GLOCK’, and recently the Afrobeat single ‘Dope Man’ featuring Ghanaian musician Camidoh and DJ Switch Ghana. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Luna Azul’.

Drawing together the talents of Love Ghost and Mexican artists Helian and MONDE, ‘Luna Azul’ is a nostalgic breath of old-school pop-punk layered in emo sentimentality. Reminiscent of My Chemical Romance with 30 Seconds To Mars vibes, the single has a brashness woven within a mellifluous flow of crashing drums and scorching guitars. Yet, while a soothing calm appears, distortion floats through the production causing an off-kilter discomfort. Interestingly, it is this comfort within discomfort that elegantly captures the theme of ‘Luna Azul’ – learning about loneliness and finding yourself as an individual.

In addition to the single, Love Ghost released an official music video for ‘Luna Azul’. This video can be viewed below or on Love Ghost’s YouTube channel.
