Love Ghost ft Bali Baby – Dirty Pixxx (2022)
The last time we heard Love Ghost, they were delving into the relationship an addict has with God through ‘Pulp’. They are now joining forces with Bali Baby for a more playful vibe with the pop-punk track ‘Dirty Pixxx’. Bringing some romantic vibes to the upbeat sound of the single, they offer the ups and downs of toxic relationships tempered by the feeling of being in love.
While tapping into the betrayal of your significant other by sending dirty pictures to other people, they look at how red flags become pink when we are in love. With the fusion of Bali Baby’s rap vocals and the infectious energy of Love Ghost, this is a single that instantly grabs your attention and masterfully holds it. Moving from being in love to betrayal, to making up, this is an emotional rollercoaster set to some amazing pop-punk tones.
The guitars that pulse through the opening of ‘Dirty Pixxx’ have a really upbeat vibe. There is a bounce to the sound that makes you want to jump around. This infectious energy only increases as the single progresses and the drums push you around the soundscape. There is a great indie rock feeling to the music that brings a bopping pulse before dropping across the verses and rising again on the chorus. Woven into this is a rather youthful energy that echoes the first fall into love that is highlighted by Bell’s vocals. As Bali Baby’s vocals hit, the music takes a slightly darker turn, allowing her performance to shine. This all swings back into the energy of the guitars in the last chorus refrain, before an almost dreamy pluck of notes lead you to the end of the track.
The energy of the music is perfectly picked up by Bell’s vocals as he introduces us to the story of the track. The lyrics hit you with a spiral into love that becomes slightly overwhelming as Bell unleashes the depths of his emotions. The happiness of his vocals is contrasted wonderfully by Bali Baby’s rather seductive slide of rap. Through her section of the vocals, we are treated to a different side of love where you are hit with betrayal, only for the couple to make up. As you listen to the two tales, you do wonder if the person in the middle is the same person or if you are being treated to two unrelated relationships. Regardless, the pure energy they have been able to infuse into each note is outstanding.
Playful and energetic with a romantic vibe, ‘Dirty Pixxx’ sees Love Ghost team up with Bali Baby for an infectious ride through falling in love, betrayal, making up and dreaming of being together forever. From the first pulse of the guitars, you are treated to the wonderful vibes of Love Ghost’s sound that keep you hooked from start to finish. Bell’s vocals bring the indie rock vibes of the band, while Bali Baby’s quite seductive rap offers a different side to the tale of the lyrics.
