Lost Club – Keep Me (At A Distance) (2020)

Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida – that’s in the USA to be exact – Lost Club is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Nick Garcia. After performing in various bands in the Jacksonville music scene, Garcia chose to embark on a solo project to act as a means of self-expression; hence, Lost Club was born. One of the latest tracks added to his discography is ‘Keep Me (At A Distance)’.

As with many of his singles, ‘Keep Me (At A Distance)’ touches on personal relationships, longing and nostalgia. Off his debut EP Phantasmagoria, the track uses elements of indie-pop with strong incorporation of new wave characteristics. While not exactly a synth-driven single, ‘Keep Me (At A Distance) incites a wistful ambience so often associated with swirling synths and keyboards. Instead of bringing you back to reality, Gracia’s echoing vocals complement the melody adding a haunting and hypnotic touch to the track.

Reminiscent of Tame Impala and The 1975, but with the attitude of The Strokes, Garcia creates music to leave you utterly beguiled in its timeless beauty. The single is entitled ‘Keep Me (At A Distance), but the soothing and intriguing music makes me want to keep Lost Club close to my heart and not at a distance.
