Los Sindes – Playa C (2022)

After meeting eight years ago, four South American musicians came together to create a unique style of music. Performing in separate groups since high school, the US-based threesome brought together their experience and diversity in the group Los Sindes. Technically formed in 2018 when Sito (lead vocals and guitars) began writing music with Manu (drums), Los Sindes is not necessarily a new band. The thing is, they took a four-year hiatus after 2018 to come together again in 2022 with Rodri (bass). Come with us as we look (or rather listen) to their debut single ‘Playa C’.

Described as a “northern hemisphere meets the southern…”, Los Sindes fuse new wave, post-punk and 80s rock in their sound. Formed by Latin immigrants, they describe the band as “…a love letter not only to immigrants in the US and people back home, but it’s for everyone that cherishes the nostalgic twang of a chorus pedal.” In their debut single ‘Playa C’, the group takes us back to the 1980s with their synth-pop meets post-punk style. They mark influences as The Police and Soda Stereo which is highly evident in ‘Playa C’.

Taken from their upcoming EP, ‘Playa C’ is a soft, soothing, charming tune with harmonic flow. Add Sito’s lead vocals and you have an ethereal, cinematic song slathered with a warm vocal hug. When listening to ‘Playa C’ I was immediately tipped into a sonic swirl with kaleidoscopic lights flitting before my face – all metaphorically, of course.

Indulgent, infectious and completely intoxicating, Los Sindes captures your heart with their debut track. My one complaint is that it is too short – just under three minutes is not long enough to fully appreciate Los Sindes natural talent.
