Lore – The Anthem (2021)
While festivals have been absent in our lives due to the pandemic, there is no reason not to get a hit of festival vibes. This is what Lore have to offer with their single ‘The Anthem’ which was inspired by one of Ireland’s finest festivals. Written the day before their performance at Stendhal in 2019, the single is soaked in festival vibes and will throw your mind back to the days of live music.
With an undeniable pop vibe, the song is a shift from their last release. With the downtime thrust upon them by the pandemic, the band spent the time away from their touring and live performance schedule to get back to the studio. The result was this single complete with an accompanying music video.
‘The Anthem’ has you wanting to sing along from the very first moment. Carolann Carlile’s vocals have you washed in the festival feel of the single as the lyrics have you remembering the last time you were at a concert. There is a great folk vibe to her performance that merges with the more paced melody. Her performance has an infectious feeling that you get lost in and never actually want to leave. On the chorus, you are definitely going to be singing along while wanting to turn the volume up as loud as you can.

You are treated to people getting down to the band at a festival while others are enjoying the other experiences of festivals. As you watch the video, you do get hit with a longing for a festival experience but this is tempered by the sheer enjoyment of listening to the single.
