Lone Deer Laredo – High Noon (2020)

Lone Deer Laredo is a Finnish alternative country duo. Consisting of Paola Suhonen (vocals) and Olli Happonen (guitar, backing vocals), the pair are ready to release their latest single on the world. ‘High Noon’ is the first single off their album Lone Deer Laredo Vol. 2.

The song was recorded in Nashville and produced by Brad Jones. The song also features Brad Jones on bass, Chris Carmichael on strings and Jim Hoke on harmonica. The track is a combination of traditional western country with a Scandinavian flair.

‘High Noon’ has a traditional western flavour to it and this is clear in the opening. It is full of harmonica and guitar that carry on throughout the melody of the track. This flavour has a splash of folk in it that works very well with Suhonen’s willowy vocals.

The vocal performance is wonderful on the track and offers the perfect higher notes to the deeper melody. Her control over her vocals is clear in the way she matches the movement of the instruments. The lyrics of the track add to the traditional western theme of this song and will have you singing along to ‘High Noon’.

Lone Deer Laredo throws you back to a time of cowboys in ‘High Noon’ with a traditional country vibe and a splash of Scandinavian vocals. The track is engaging from the first notes and creates the imagery of the dusty west at high noon.
