Livvy English – Change The World (2024)

When you think you are destined for one thing, another event may come and push you toward your true destiny – this is the case with Livvy English. After an encounter with singer Will Young at a masterclass, during which she performed an original song, she quickly realised that her passion and path lay in music.

Skip ahead and singer-songwriter English is building a reputation for confident, enthusiastic live shows touring across the UK from O2 Academy Islington to The Dublin Castle and reaching the live rounds of Isle of Wight’s New Blood competition – these are but a few notable gigs under her belt. Yet, while she intoxicates audiences and builds a live following, her tunes reach far beyond her UK borders. With critical acclaim from the USA to France, Portugal and Germany, English is quickly becoming one of the more interesting acts on the indie-rock/pop-rock circuit.

Following her well-received tracks ‘Checkmate’ and ‘Shame For You’, Livvy English steps into 2024 with her new single ‘Change The World’. Adopting a powerful stance, English wants us to pay attention and expresses this through the bold song. Recorded and produced with Vicente Marques, ‘Change The World’ has the songstress delving further into an alternative rock realm. Filled with pounding drums and scorching guitars, the single exudes rage and ferocity; however, a quick slip of soulful calm blending English’s rich vocals and a tender piano adds sweetness to the track.

Penned as a narrative of female empowerment, the forceful melody is the voice of 21st-century women who are tired of facing a sexist world. Interestingly, while ‘Change The World’ is an anthem for women today, the undervaluing of women is a time-long issue so not only is English speaking for contemporary females but crosses generations with her message. English explains:

“As a woman in music, I have been underestimated and undervalued more times than I can even count… With ‘Change The World’ I say, “no more”. I want women to know that they have the right to be angry and to let that anger be known…”
