Lisa Ramey – Certainly Lord (2022)

Catching national attention with her outstanding performance on The Voice a couple of years ago, singer-songwriter Lisa Ramey has been captivating audiences across the globe. Since her appearance on The Voice, Lisa Ramsey has placed on Good Morning America’s ‘Top 50 Albums of 2020’, performed at notable international festivals, as well as headlining alongside Lauryn Hill. Now an established musician in the live-stream concert world, Ramey is constantly searching for new approaches to music, eclectic arrangements and intriguing melodies. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Certainly Lord’.

Known for her soulful powerhouse vocals, US-based Ramey exudes a grittiness in her soul meets rock and roll sound. Following her track ‘City Called Heaven’, ‘Certainly Lord’ captures this fusion of grungy rock with jazzy RnB. Tiptoeing atop a hard-hitting rock base, there is a Nirvana-style grunginess to ‘Certainly Lord’; however, the interwoven RnB meets jazz vocals bring an evocative tenderness to the single.

What I particularly enjoy is how the instrumentation moves from rough and hard guitar-driven tones to a soft simplicity led by a piano – a type of heavy to soft and gentle but with a constant boldness in Ramey’s execution. Unplugged and raw, ‘Certainly Lord’ is an eclectic mixture of power and that heartfelt ruggedness that comes from an acoustic set.

Sincere, sentimental and robust, Lisa Ramey tugs at your heartstrings and sends your soul soaring with ‘Certainly Lord’.
