Linda Imperial – Destination You (2024)

Linda Imperial is a name that resonates with the echoes of resilience, artistry, and a life lived to its fullest extremes. Her decades-long musical career is a testament to her indomitable spirit—a whirlwind of highs, lows, and dark struggles, followed by a redemptive rise that has seen her emerge stronger and more vibrant than ever. With her latest release, ‘Destination You’, Linda showcases the blues-rock side of her artistry like never before, delivering a soulful anthem that navigates the depths of love, loss, and the eternal quest for true contentment.

With ‘Destination You’, Linda Imperial takes a poignant turn, channelling her life experiences into a blues-rock anthem that is as emotionally raw as it is musically compelling. The song was born from a place of deep personal reflection, written in the wake of losing two of her dearest friends and longtime collaborators, Frank Loverde and Steve Valverde. Frank, who was not only the inspiration behind ‘Destination You’ but also a close friend and music soul brother, passed away leaving a void in Imperial’s life. Steve Valverde, who co-wrote the song with her, also passed away unexpectedly further intensifying the song’s emotional weight.

Linda comments on the release, “‘Destination You’ was written with love and loss! Love of a friend and the loss of that friend… It’s a rare experience to be filled with complete satisfaction of anything, much less a friendship, but here we are, and there you have it. I thought it was worthy enough to document it for posterity. The person who was my inspiration for this song, Frank Loverde, died, and just recently, my co-writer for this song, Steve Valverde, died unexpectedly. Both were my dear friends and music soul brothers. I am so fortunate to have had them in my life. I dedicate this song to them both.”

Produced by Linda Imperial and David Freiberg, ‘Destination You’ was recorded at Free Mountain Studio with a stellar lineup of musicians, including Doug Freedman on drums, Steve Valverde on bass, Peter Harris on guitar, and David Kaffineti on keys. The result is a track that not only pays tribute to the memories of Frank and Steve but also encapsulates her journey as an artist – a journey marked by resilience, creativity, and an unwavering dedication to her craft.
