Leah Martin-Brown – Boys (2024)
By age 16, Martin-Brown was an established artist on Australia’s Gold Coast and since then has captured the hearts of audiences on an international scale. As Lilly Rogue, she entranced Australian crowds at various festivals and events leading to her supporting acts like Everclear and Presidents of the United States. Later on, her band Evol Walks made its debut in the USA; however, it is her solo project we wish to pursue.
From a young age, Leah Martin-Brown was focused on one thing: collaboration with legendary producer Mutt Lange. Lange made his way to her heart when she discovered AC/DC at age 10 entranced by the electrifying sound of ‘Hells Bells’. The rest was a passionate ambition which became real in 2021 (or thereabouts) when her manager, Jens Lundberg, presented her with this opportunity. Her debut single ‘Boys’ shows that dreams can come true.
With a powerful stage presence and confidence in her genre-defying sound, singer-songwriter Leah Martin-Brown saunters through the kaleidoscopic realms of rock and pop. Dabbing into the pop-rock sounds of the 1990s and early 2000s, ‘Boys’ blends the pounding force of alternative rock with a blast of pop-rock running through the ferocious single. Crashing drums match scorching guitars in a rush of music spinning you at a whiplash speed; however, it is Martin-Brown’s vocals that seem to bind the melody with a tantalising streak of pure energy.
An exhilarating production from the outset, listening to ‘Boys’ is similar to being caught in a never-ending whirlpool hit with tumultuous waves on all sides. Tossed from pillar to post, you gasp for breath but ‘Boys’ also gives you chills pulling further down into the dark mire before shooting you out with an enthusiastic jolt.
Taken from her upcoming debut album, ‘Boys’ is a sign of things to come. Mesmerising, heart-stopping, enchanting and entirely intoxicating, Lean Martin-Brown is the one thing missing from your life that you never knew you needed. I cannot wait for more!
