La Biche – Hard Vision (2022)

A professional dancer, choreographer and model, French artist La Biche has experience on stage, on the screen and behind the lens; however, it is her musicality that we look at today. Just as a choreographer, La Biche (also known as Laetitia) creates a sonic dance for our ears. Influenced by the sound of the 90s, her music and lyrics are sculpted with a nostalgic flair. Yet, while there is a throwback, a youthfulness and contemporary sound is woven into her edgy melodies. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Hard Vision’.

Trained as a pianist and composer, there is an elegance to her tunes; however, La Biche is, as I mentioned above, edgy with her modern-day slant. Following her single ‘Belam’, ‘Hard Vision’ is her first release in 2022. Similar to her debut track, ‘Hard Vision’ has an experimental feeling to it oozing obscurity in its arrangement. Yet, unlike ‘Belam’ the single is more soothing, sensual and flowing in its delivery.

While the tune has a unique eclecticism with its dark-pop sensibilities, a hint of soul and old-school RnB carries through the melody. Consider a Billie Eilish meets Sade with a gothic blend, and you might have an idea of what ‘Hard Vision’ sounds like. The sensuality and sexuality of La Biche flow through with her hushed vocals, but a boldness exists in the modern-day Eilish-style pop arrangement.

I find ‘Hard Vision’ intriguing as it expresses its more profound theme in a fuzzy, warm, albeit stark song. Questioning her own being, La Biche takes us on an enigmatic journey “juggling between a mysterious and impenetrable personality, facing a seductive alter ego, sure of her strengths and her direction. We travel with the artist in this universe…like an initiatory crossing of appearances…” – the diverse but harmonic sounds being encapsulating the egos.

Sincere, sentimental, honest and enticing, La Biche releases the intimate single ‘Hard Vision’. It is something I will not easily forget and I highly recommend you listen to it.
