Kristopher – Indigo Sky (2022)

With songs being described as “musical masterpieces” (Sinusoidal Music) and “sultry…” (EIN News), US-based artist Kristopher touches on honest emotions and heartfelt tenderness in his melodies. With over a decade of musical theatre and orchestral experience as a multi-instrumentalist, Kristopher blends modern-day pop vibes with classical sounds in a unique, distinctive way. Tackling issues faced by modern-day generations, his songs are relatable to many audiences; however, retain an eccentric elusiveness. The latest addition to Kristopher’s well-received single is ‘Indigo Sky’.

Following his single ‘Into You’, Kristopher explores hook-up culture and the complexities of being in casual relationships. A common theme among the Millennial and Gen-Z generations, the idea of being in “open relationships” or one-time intimate affairs is something both casual and profound. Kristopher explains that ‘Indigo Sky’ “is about coping mechanisms…there’s nothing wrong or right about turning to fabricated intimacy. It’s a different world until the sun comes up, but it’s important to be honest with yourself.”

As with various artists, the Covid-19 pandemic played a large role in Kristopher’s music allowing him to evolve as an artist with more introspection and new approaches. As such, the exploration of emotional honesty, vulnerability and unfiltered romanticism helped Kristopher to discover the cathartic power of music and share it with audiences. A deep connection exists in his music taking you along for the ride, but also acting as an anchor in a world of confusion.

Unlike ‘Into You’, ‘Indigo Sky’ is a melancholic acoustic single showcasing Kristopher’s heart-wrenching tenderness and emotional depth. While his previous material has an upbeat quality to the sound, ‘Indigo Sky’ is sparse, simplistic and brash with its minimalistic soundscape. What is common between all of Kristopher’s melodies is the sophisticated instrumentation and arrangement, but with a tinge of youthful innocence splashed across the surface. ‘Indigo Sky’ is that wistful, naïve exposition of human fragility in a delicate, elegant style.
