KIND WORLD – KIND WORLD (2022)

Influenced by the likes of Beach Boys and Beatles to Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Marvin Gaye and Tame Impala, the musical project KIND WORLD brings together old-school pop and rock with modern-day indie-pop in a psychedelic swirl. This is my introduction to KIND WORLD, but this singer-songwriter is winning hearts across the globe featuring on Find No Enemy, Alt77 and Eimn Radio (to name a few). Come with us as we drift into KIND WORLD’s self-titled debut EP.

Conceived approximately 20 years ago, the songs on KIND WORLD is a declaration and exposition of human life and its fragility, empowerment and core elements. A sign that “things take some time to get off the rails in order to get back on track”, KIND WORLD is a raw, rugged and enchanting mishmash of singles. From the track ‘A Silly Thing’ (written in 1999) to ‘Lonely’ (written in 2021), he highlights the resilience of music, its representation of human existence, and how it can help empower individuals even when it seems as though the world has stopped.

As I said, this is my introduction to KIND WORLD; however, it is a truly eye-opening and wonderful experience. A slithering of psychedelic melodies opens the EP followed closely by a strong indie-folk sound in ‘A Silly Thing’. Interestingly enough, while a folk tinge can be heard in the majority of the songs, there is a weaving of jangle pop within the arrangement giving off a strong Beatles vibe. Combining the poignancy and intense intimacy of Paul McCartney in ‘Complicated’ and ‘A Silly Thing’, KIND WORLD highlights versatility bringing a more soulful sound in ‘Lonely’ and ‘Come Home’ – a tinge of Stevie Wonder with Paul McCartney, but in a rough, raw and robust sound.

Despite the full-bodied tone in KIND WORLD, KIND WORLD retains a sense of fragility and vulnerability in the delicate tracks. My favourite song is potentially ‘Come Home’ with its soft, soothing arrangement effortlessly pushing the idea that “music can inspire and heal us…deepen our understanding and connection with ourselves and others, and in the process, make the world a kinder place.”
