Kill My Coquette – Coffeebean Song (2021)

Kill My Coquette is bringing an absolutely awesome blending of old school rock and modern pop-punk to our ears with ‘Coffeebean Song’. With a dynamic melodic movement, the band hits you with some upbeat intensity through the track. If you are looking for a song that brings memorable encounters at a coffee shop to engaging rock, you are in the right place.

Natalie Denise Sperl (vocals, guitar), Adam Smith (guitar) and Mike Evans (bass) came together after Sperl taught herself to play the guitar and decided to start a rock band. Armed with an unapologetic attitude, the band draws on influences from Springsteen to Jack White to create their own unique sound. With their infectious punk-infused sound, the band has opened for Bad Religion and found their music blared out by LA rock radio station KROQ.

‘Coffeebean Song’ hits you with a rather retro vibe that makes you think of the punk-rock music of the late 90s and early 2000s. The melody has this infectious bounce to it that makes you want to jump around to the beats. The guitars thrash against your ears and vibrate through your limbs with an energy that can’t be denied. There is a moment when the melody drops for the vocal interlude that is so funny. Below that is a melody that builds with the fun vibes of the track before blasting through your ears again.

Sperl’s vocals grab you at the same time as the melody making you want to shout out with her before you know what has happened. There is a really wonderful movement to her vocals that bring a delightful emotive hit to the epic rock tones. The lyrics detail a really relatable story of meeting someone in real life that you connected with online. When the melody drops, the little vocal interlude is like a skit of hilarious conversation. The back and forth of the vocals are really engaging and enjoyable before they slide into the chorus of the track.

Kill My Coquette keep you engaged from the first second of ‘Coffeebean Song’ with pulsing guitars, relatable lyrics and dynamic vocals. The melody grabs your muscles as the guitars race through you. Sperl’s vocals are engaging and tell a delightful story that is as relatable as it is fun.
