Kid Jupiter – bluepink (2023)

With the flair of old-school artists like The Byrds and The Rolling Stones, but with the modern-day charm of The 1975 and Tame Impala, UK-based Kid Jupiter are melody makers with an intoxicating elegance. From their 2019 single ‘Keeping Fit’ to 2020’s ‘Tennis Eyes’, Kid Jupiter brings the best of Britpop to audiences. Chart-topping with critical acclaim from various reviewers and radio stations, including BBC6’s Tom Robinson, the lads are dominating the UK music scene. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘bluepink’.

Known for taking on issues like gender identity, modern masculinity and living with mental health challenges, Kid Jupiter connects with modern-day audiences on a conceptual and melodic level. The single ‘Grey Skirt’ is an anthem for gender fluidity and ‘bluepink’ taps into gender-identity topics again with a strong sense of positivity.

“’bluepink’ marks Kid Jupiter’s return to the spotlight with a warm message of solidarity, gender euphoria and joy in self-discovery… The lyrics tell a simple story of finding bliss and joy in a fractured, categorised world…”

The first single after a three-year musical hiatus, Kid Jupiter re-emerges with a bold burst of sound. Inspired by David Bowie’s song ‘Heroes’, ‘bluepink’ has the old-school indie-pop meets glam-rock style with its retro flow slithering through the melody. Yet, while a vintage quality remains in ‘bluepink’, there seems to be something contemporary in the artsy presentation. It’s as if youthfulness exists in a bubble floating through the song – joyful, optimistic and filled with happiness.

Sincere and sentimental with a toe-tapping vibe, Kid Jupiter hit the ground running with their summer banger ‘bluepink’.
