Kaiwyn – The Cut After The First (2023)
Many musicians I come across at The Other Side Reviews are not full-time musicians but have other “day jobs”; Kaiwyn is possibly the first medical doctor with a musical side-project that I have encountered. After graduating from medical school, he was stationed in Tamworth for his residency flexing his medical skills, but he also pursued his love for music by participating in the Tamworth Busking Championships 2015. From there he started building a loyal following, gaining recognition from numerous local radio stations and is now turning heads across the globe. From Sinusoidal Music to Plastic Magazine, FV Music Blog and Music For All, this talented individual is critically acclaimed on an international scale. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘The Cut After The First’.
Following his tracks ‘You’re My Kind’ and ‘Dedicated To You’, Kaiwyn’s single ‘The Cut After The First’ is a fusion of pop and pop-rock with some country tinges. Smooth and charming, the melody elegantly floats along a dark pool of water like a silvery feather in the moonlight. Leaning toward the sounds of the 90s, Kaiwyn brings a nostalgic pop-rock feeling to listeners in ‘The Cut After The First’; however, the sophisticated arrangement also has a contemporary vibe giving it a tender edginess.
One of the singles penned by Kaiwyn (pronounced ‘Kai’ ‘wern’) during his high school years, ‘The Cut After The First’ has a naïve innocence resting within the sophisticated arrangement. The incorporation of strings brings a unique element to the typical pop-rock sound showcasing his innovative and versatile creativity. Moreover, this incorporation of a classical section heightens the sense of yearning, intimacy and desperation found in the song’s theme. It sends your soul soaring while Kaiwyn brings raw honesty in his dulcet vocals.
