Junior Love – Love Bomb (2022)

Junior Love is exploring the dark side of love and narcissism with his single ‘Love Bomb’. Through the single, he dives into the behaviour of someone who lures you in while on a date, giving you everything, only to take it all away, leaving you with nothing. The single is the opening salvo to a larger work that continues the exploration of covert narcissism and the negative side of martyrdom.

While retaining some of the dance-pop tones of his previous releases, he is branching out and incorporating RnB and soul into this exploration. A solo pop singer-songwriter, Junior Love has been recording his own music at Music City Studios in West Monroe, Louisiana since 2018. His last album saw him gaining some serious attention in the music world and, with this single as a taster, his next is sure to live up to the high expectations his sound has created.

The opening of ‘Love Bomb’ brings a blend of RnB and the warping tones of dance-pop. The dance vibes hit harder as the plucked beat comes through and gets you bopping to the sound. There is an undeniable moving vibe to the music that makes you want to dance or move to the music in some way. While there is a heavy moving beat that catches you in its flow, it is softened by a smoothness that can only come from RnB and soul. Through the verses, the plucked notes make their way down the soundscape, only to be washed by the smoother tones. There is a swell in the lower levels as you hit the chorus that takes everything to another level.

While your body is filled with the urge to move to the music, Junior Love’s vocals have a soulful flow as they explore the lyrics. Through the lyrics, he draws you in like the person luring you into a relationship where everything is being promised. As you fall under the spell of his vocal performance, you are drawn into the experience of the lyrics and the feeling of giving someone the best parts of yourself. The love and affection that are woven into the single drops later in the track to reveal the dark side of love and narcissism. The chorus is really catchy and you are probably going to be singing along before the single is over.

With a bounce of dance-pop, mixed with the soulful exploration of RnB, Junior Love considers the dark side of love and falling into the trap of a narcissist in ‘Love Bomb’. The single is a stunning mixture of dance vibes and smooth soul that brings a new edge to his music. The dancing vibes have you giddily falling in love, only to be hit by the considerations of the smoother vocals.
