Jules & The Howls – Boys Club (2025)

The embodiment of raw passion, singer-songwriter Julianne Q is the strong, independent woman whose fiery attitude has you jumping about, singing along, and just loving every second. An established name in the LA music scene, Jules & The Howls draws together the grittiness of hard rock with slips of soul and the rush of pop-rock in her eclectic sound. Sauntering across various realms of rock, you aren’t quite certain what to expect from the innovative artist; you can, however, expect something exceptional. Join us as we delve into her most recent release, ‘Boys Club’.

Following the well-received single ‘Bow Down’, ‘Boys Club’ is Jules & The Howls’ first step into 2025. Produced with long-time collaborator Tom Chandler, ‘Boys Club’ is a hard-hitting flood of Jules & The Howls unique brand of rock. A bold bass matches pulsating drums with a soaring guitar sliding along the melody. Interestingly, while the concoction of powerful instruments shine with prominent individuality, each aspect contributes to harmonic unity in the musical masterpiece.

For me, the melody is intriguing in its brashness with smooth exterior; however, it is Jules’ vocals that up the ante in ‘Boys Club’. Gritty and rough, you can feel the edginess of her confident tone. Then again, within the gruff exterior, warmth and comfort meld together with charming ease. Abrupt but flowing; raw but polished; sophisticated but rough – each aspect brings another facet to the hard-hitting tune, ‘Boys Club’.

Melodically, the track is sensational, but deeper profoundness lies in the poetic lyricism. With her signature tribute to female empowerment, ‘Boys Club’ is an unmistakable “…anthem about burning down the patriarchal norms and exclusive of women, coinciding with a call for freedom and respect…”

The alternative rock edge might not allude to sincerity or sentiment, but the emotion within ‘Boys Club’ captures human vulnerability and fragility in its rock swagger. This is the first song from Jules & The Howls in 2025; I am eager to hear what else the band has up its sleeve.
