There are certain things in life that most of us will encounter at some point, making them amazingly universal. Relationships and heartbreak are two of these things and they form the basis of ‘BTW’ by Josy B. Detailing her own trials and tribulations with relationships and the painful heartbreak that follows, her silky vocals and RnB sensibilities weave a single that is wonderfully relatable.

Fusing RnB and pop, Josy B attaches a soulful message to her music which is extremely catchy on its own. Since she started singing and releasing music in 2007, she has been gaining attention from across the music scene. With a career that is sure to only head up, she recently won a Modern Soulful Music Award for her single ‘Crybaby’.



‘BTW’ sparkles and jitters to life with an intriguing combination of sounds that draw from electronic pop and alternative RnB. There is a glittering feeling to the music that sparkles over the smooth slide of the lower levels. From the start of the track, you are drawn into the silken flows of Josy B’s music, while feeling the catchy movement. The layers of the melody flow out over and below you, catching you in the middle, where you can’t help but move to their flow. There is a wonderfully modern feeling to the music that perfectly bolsters the silken flows of Josy B’s vocals. It is easy to listen to the music, while falling into the lyrics and the story that she has to tell.

As you are caught in the middle of the layers of the melody, Josy B’s vocals slink into your ears. Her voice has a light touch to it that caresses your skin like satin. As she slides into your senses, she brings the story of her trials and tribulations with relationships. The lyrics are really relatable, particularly for anyone who has left a relationship only to fall into another with a similar person. While there is an exploration of her own trials, there is also a sense of realisation of the cycle that we can all fall into. This is wrapped in a really catchy performance that brings a bounce to the sparkling of the melody.

Josy B considers personal trials and tribulations regarding relationships, that have a universal relatability in the sparkling ‘BTW’. The melody catches you in a middle ground as the melodic elements flow above and below. Her vocals have a silken slide to them while adding a light bounce to the track.
