With ‘Marie’, Joshua Paparo delved into one-sided longing in a fleeting relationship. His new release ‘Miss Electric’ follows on from this with a pure tale of love, loss and finding a way forward. Paparo’s purist folk tendencies shine with this track as he stripped the music to the bones before packing almost too much emotion in.
The stripped-back nature of the single reinforces the adage by Harlan Howard that ‘Country music is three chords and the truth’. While minimal in arrangement, the work of Mathieu Morin and Simon Paparo adds a poignancy to the track through the layering of acoustics and haunting vocal harmonies.
