Josh Holmes – Over And Over (2023)

From Sinusoidal Music to Roadie Music, Pop Passion Blog and The Other Side Reviews (that’s us), singer-songwriter Josh Holmes is turning curators’ heads on an international level. Moreover, his extensive radio play and performances at numerous festivals, including Godiva Festival, has him garnering a loyal following on a global scale. Known for his engaging, enthusiastic and heart-warming storytelling, Holmes effortlessly expresses human fragility in an elegant manner. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Over And Over’.

Featured as one of the ‘Top 100 Tracks of the Year’ on Radio Abbey with Paul Saunders, Josh Holmes ended 2022 in style, but there is so much more on the cards for Holmes. Blasting into the new year with ‘Over And Over’, Holmes shows a divergence from soft indie-pop to a pop-punk/pop-rock sound. Finding a line between Weezer and Good Charlotte, ‘Over And Over’ slathers Holmes’ charming vocals over a combination of pounding drums and dynamic guitars.

Despite Holmes’ melodic style changing slightly, his intimate lyricism retains the tender feeling of his songs. Moving from the essence of falling in love in his song ‘Falling In Love’, the UK-based musician touches on regret for not showing one’s feelings sooner. Holmes explains that “the lyrics paint a picture of a long-standing friendship and the thoughts that arise when you want something more but don’t know how to tell the other person. The chorus repeats the phrase ‘it plays over and over’ as you play various scenarios over in your head on what should have been said.”

Sincere, sentimental and sensitive, Josh Holmes delicately explores human vulnerability in ‘Over And Over’.
