Jimmy Pistachio has teamed up with CARDAMONE for his single ‘Run’. A fusion of pop, RnB and house, the track looks at people hiding their true identities to avoid losing someone they love and the shifting roles in relationships. With a bouncy bassline to get you moving and melancholic chords, the single touches on different emotions as you are drawn into the haunting vocals.
This single marks the first release from Pistachio under his own name. Before it, he lent his musical skills to the beats of up-and-coming singers and local rappers in his hometown Melbourne, Australia. Using inspiration from a range of styles, he has created a blended soundscape that is the perfect introduction to what he has to offer.
‘Run’ bounces against your ears for a great house feeling. There is a slightly dark feeling to the music that shivers through you in the bassline. The lower levels of the track bring the melancholy while still making you want to move to the rhythm. The sound effects that echo and warble against that steady bassline add a textured layering to the music. The melody alone can easily get you lost in the track and feeling the emotions of the story through the movement of the different elements.
While this is the case, CARDAMONE’s breathy vocals top off the track bringing a sense of perfection. Her high vocals are a wonderful counterpoint to that deep bassline. The movement of her vocals also enhances the dancing feeling of the music while bringing the story of the track to life. Her performance draws you into the lyrics and helps you feel the emotions of having to hide to keep someone you love.
