Jerichos – If You Want It Now (2024)

“Loose as a goose sat here sipping ma pineapple juice!” – this is the Spotify bio for Jerichos so you can imagine the laidback joviality of his music. The brainchild of singer-songwriter Julian Wagstaff, Jerichos has entertained the masses for almost five years (give or take a little). From his 2020 single ‘Way Hotter Than Flamingos’ to 2022’s ‘Pink Hair’ and the 2023 EP LEO, Jerichos turns heads on a national and international scale. This is my introduction to Jerichos, and I might be a bit late to the party, however, the harmonic wave is as bright as ever. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘If You Want It Now’.

Following the critically acclaimed three-track EP LEO, Jerichos saunters into 2024 with the new single. Recorded with musician and producer Chris Barker in London, ‘If You Want It Now’ is, as described by Jerichos, “…a packed punch of summer feels in a bottle of three minutes of pure dreamy indie goodness…” The perfect testament to the blissful feel of independence and freedom when riding along on a summer road trip, ‘If You Want To Go’ is a bright fusion of vintage funk and rock with contemporary slices of dream-pop in the mix.

From the first chord, Jerichos’ new song is a nostalgic drag back to the funk grooves of the 60s and 70s. Dropping you into a kaleidoscopic sonic pool, the broody guitars lift laidback drums while Wagstaff sings with a dulcet tone. The melody itself is a sea of delight washing across in a hazy rush of sound; however, it is the breathy but bold vocals that are haunting but with a rich lustre that turns my head.

Finding the theme song of a carefree, chilled-out, soothing and serene summer, Jerichos gives us ‘If You Want It Now’ – just in time for summer as well!

In addition to the single, Jerichos released an official music video for ‘If You Want It Now’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel.
