Jeremy Parsons – Humanity (2023)

As a child growing up in San Antonio, Texas, singer-songwriter Jeremy Parsons was exposed to the sounds of country music from a young age. Soaking up these sonic vibes, Parsons began to teach himself the guitar and naturally began writing and performing throughout high school. Showcasing his penchant for music, Parsons has moved from local high school performances to cross-continental tours in Europe and the USA. Known for his engaging and heartfelt shows, he shares his warm personality with the audiences; hence, why he is such a favourite. Alongside this growing gig fanbase, Parsons is captivating audiences on an international scale with coverage from publications and radio stations beyond his US borders.

From his well-received debut album Doggondest Feelin’ in 2010 to the current single ‘Humanity’, Jeremy Parsons has shared sentimental, meaningful and passionate music with listeners. In fact, his singles ‘Tragedy’, ‘Something Other Than You’ and ‘Good Ole Days’ are chart-toppers on the international iTunes Sales charts.

Following his popular single ‘Tickin’, this US-based artist breaks our hearts with another country song – breaking hearts in a good way. Produced with Dustin Martin, ‘Humanity’ combines elements of country with slivers of indie-folk and pop slithering through the melody. Soft and soothing, ‘Humanity’ embraces you in a warm sonic hug, and Parsons’ rich vocals make the hug even more cuddly. Traipsing along a comforting melody, the vocal execution is like a breath of fresh air enhancing a positive sensation in ‘Humanity’. Interestingly enough, while the single has a laidback nature, the lyricism proves far more poignant and profound.

Touching on the desperate uncertainty and frustration people feel in today’s society, there is a vulnerable yearning flowing through ‘Humanity’. Parsons explains, “the lyrics emerged from looking at the world choosing to slip into madness because of uncertainty and lack of patience…it was all the racism and brutality in general that occurred, which was and still is mind-boggling to me. It should’ve been an awakening to show us how little progress we’ve made in 60 years and how much further we still have to go…”
