Jane N’ The Jungle – GTFO (2024)
At the end of the day, while you’re on your way home from work, you need one of two things: a warm, soothing slip of dreamy ethereal haziness or a “scream your lungs out” slap of nu-metal madness; Jane N’ The Jungle bring the latter. I am not for a moment saying that Jane and her cohorts do not have the soothing lift from a day of drudgery. No, I’m merely stating that the US-based trio finds harmony with a soul-stirring slap. For almost five years, The Other Side Reviews has enjoyed the insatiable sounds of Jane N’ The Jungle. Join us as we delve headfirst into the group’s indulgent music.
Following the EP Life of the Party, featuring critically acclaimed singles ‘Cut Me Open’ and ‘Wasteland’, Jane N’ The Jungle present their original single ‘GTFO’. Recorded and produced by Cameron Mizell (Sleeping With Sirens, Memphis May Fire, and Avril Lavigne), ‘GTFO’ is “hotter than a piston with searing vocals and blazing guitar riffs…” – yep, that is scorching hot and it’s not an overstatement.
As with ‘Wasteland’, a flood of melodic metal meets hard rock in a kaleidoscopic rush of nu-metal. Interestingly, while a modern-day flair of hard rock beats in ‘GTFO’, there is a strong nostalgic whisper of 2000s nu-metal in the line of Linkin Park with shimmers of Halestorm and Flyleaf. Brian Dellis’ crashing drums and soaring guitar send waves of high-voltage rock with fiery rage; however, and oddly enough, Jordan White’s vocals add to the ferocity with a strange comfort lingering in a brash tone.
Driven by issues of American greed and gun violence, one can imagine the angst and aggression behind ‘GTFO’. While the chorus perfectly captures the anti-violence sentiments, it is the final utterance of “get the fuck out” that leaves the greatest impact. Venomous in a way, but a true representation of the frustration felt in a capitalist society where you just want something good, ‘GTFO’ is a statement and not just a song.
In addition to the single, Jane N’ The Jungle released an official music video for ‘GTFO’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel.
