Jack Swing – Get What’s Mine For You (2020)

Reaching out from Pittsburgh, USA, Jack Swing is blues-rock trio with some sweet soulful tunes. Founded in 2016 by frontman Isaiah Ross, Jack Swing has gained a reputation for fiery and engaging performances across their home country. Not only that, but the group has received both national and international coverage from notable publications like Atwood Magazine, Clunk Magazine, Pittsburgh Post Gazette and Totally Wired Mag. With several singles and EPs to their name, the trio hit streaming platforms once again with their latest release Get What’s Mine For You.

In only three tracks, Isaiah Ross (vocals and guitar), Rowdy Kanarek (bass) and Alex Nelson (drums) demonstrate their innovation and flexibility as artists. Ranging from the funk of ‘Get What’s Mine For You’ to the blues-rock ‘Meet You There’, Get What’s Mine For You is a genre-bending representation of rock evolution in the 60s and 70s. The one element connecting all tracks is Ross’ bold vocals and high-quality guitar solos.

Lyrically, Get What’s Mine For You is an exploration of the human soul digging through all those nooks and crannies. Carefully and cleverly arranged, Jack Swing takes you on a flowing journey of self-discovery with an effortless transition of tracks. I adore all the tracks, although my favourite would be ‘Meet You There’ – a song about the loss of a loved one, but the change in tempo and style enhance a moving genuineness in the single’s poignancy.
