Ingravity – Back On The Track (2023)

In my previous review, I described the German group Ingravity as the lovechild of Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind and Fire. My opinion has not changed. With their sensational take on soul-pop and funk, Benedict Goebel and his crew bring the grooviness of yesteryear to the 21st century. Founded in 2014 by Goebel, Ingravity began building a reputation as an engaging live band within Berlin, but as the years passed the number of members grew from four to seven and the enthusiasm for Ingravity reached a new level.

With only two singles beneath their belt, Ingravity can be considered a newbie in the music scene; however, they are standing out with their heads above the rest merging elements of soul with pop, blues and rock. Described by French music magazine Indie Chronique as “powerfully addictive” and “perfectly crafted music”, Ingravity is making waves beyond its German borders. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Back On The Track’.

Following their track ‘Move It Up’, Ingravity begin the new year with a powerful blast of music in ‘Back On The Track’. As with their previous material, ‘Back On The Track’ has a nostalgic charm evoking the charming sounds of Earth, Wind and Fire; however, this new single is far more elegant and enchanting than other pieces. The combination of guitars, drums and a splice of horns carries you across the melody from highs to lows and back again. While there is an upbeat, jovial quality that makes you want to dance, ‘Back On The Track’ is simultaneously soothing, laidback and the perfect song to chill out to.

The melody is a brilliant rollercoaster that can hold its own, but it is Goebel’s vocals that add an insatiability to Ingravity’s music. Bold, rich, full-bodied and robust, his warm voice effortlessly wraps about the tune. Moreover, the vocals ooze the hopefulness and optimism created for ‘Back On The Track’.

“Coming to the point where one needs the help of others to get back on track was the start of the creative process that has led us approaching the highest authentic and meaningful sound for the lyrics that came from the lead singer’s heart.” – Ingravity on ‘Back On The Track’

Sincere, sentimental and wonderfully intoxicating, Ingravity has you gravitating to their moving songs.
