InBetween Honey – Driving Home (2025)

In our 2023 interview with InBetween Honey, the group shared, “If we didn’t have music in our lives, it would be an incredibly boring place to be…” Charging onto the music scene with hard-hitting indie-rock passion, InBetween Honey wriggles in your ear, twizzles about your brain, and sends shivers down your spine – all sonic and completely metaphorical, of course. Join us as we jump headfirst into the most recent addition to their discography, ‘Driving Home’.

Following the well-received 2024 singles ‘She’s Out Of Control’ and ‘it’s alright’, InBetween Honey stomped into the new year with ‘Driving Home’. Recorded and produced with Martin Quinn, ‘Driving Home’ shifts from the rambunctious indie-rock vibes to something more sophisticated and skilful. For me, this single is an evolution in the band’s sound showcasing a growing maturity for InBetween Honey, leaning toward weighty classic rock and pop-rock while retaining the signature indie-rock lilt.

One aspect I find intriguing about ‘Driving Home’ is the intricate weaving of kaleidoscopic rock sounds with a simplistic overall aura. Combining a bold bass with crashing drums, soaring guitars, and rough vocals, you feel the power of a rock band; however, there is a sense of starkness and barebones isolation captured in the complex music. Delving into the theme of endings, ‘Driving Home’ oscillates between the desire to leave a situation, the joy that it’s over, and simultaneously the gut-wrenching despair that it’s all gone. InBetween Honey explains:

“This song is about the feeling you get when you’re glad to leave but you regret that it’s over. The feeling that you’re happy it’s ended, but the desire to experience it again is compelling. This song evokes a nearly unwanted nostalgia and ethereal presence from the get-go.”
