ICEBERG – Captor (2022)

From Mystic Sons and Sinusoidal Music to Clunk Magazine, Clout and No Depression Magazine, singer-songwriter ICEBERG is turning the heads of critics across the globe. An indie rock artist whose ambient music holds a naïve innocence, as well as a sophisticated maturity, ICEBERG’s poetic melodies can be called eclectic and charming. After moving from Nashville, USA to London, UK, this songstress spent time working with various producers and musicians working in studios before opening her production company, Glassnote Productions. Now, ICEBERG has returned to the USA (the Adirondack Mountains to be exact) surrounding herself with the beauty of nature which she expresses through her enchanting music. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Captor’.

Following her ethereal track ‘Blood Bank’ which looked at feelings of loss and a need for connection in troubled times, ‘Captor’ is a soulful exploration of human fragility in a blunt, bold way. Unlike ‘Blood Bank’ which explored the melancholic side of isolation and loss, ‘Captor’ touches on the frustration behind the toxic relationship – she just doesn’t give a damn about the situation with “nothing she can do to fight but hold on tight”.

Once again, ICEBERG shows a vocal reminiscence to Florence Welch; however, there is an edginess and charm that is purely ICEBERG. Moreover, once again, the haunting melody appears to be about vulnerability and fragility, but this is merely the tip of that iceberg. Deeper down in the poetic lyricism you hear a fervent, bold and mature acceptance – the tumultuous part of the iceberg lies beneath the surface.

Blunt and bold, but also innocent and naïve, ICEBERG effortlessly captures audiences with her single ‘Captor’.
