Hollows – Apologise (2020)

Hollows is a Manchester-based four-piece alternative rock band drawing on a range of influences. The band consists of Sean Davies, Dan Dyson, Chris Prichard and Jack Barnes. They released their first EP in 2017 and played shows at the O2 Arena Liverpool and Manchester Academy. Coming off their upcoming EP Dour, Yet Charming is their second single release of the year ‘Apologise’.

The track was recorded not long after their last UK summer tour in 2019. Since then, it has become a fan favourite at their live shows with anticipation high for the actual release. The single draws on their massive range of influences for a full alternative sound blast.



‘Apologise’ hooks you with deep notes that turn into a catchy melody. There is a steady drive to the music with some very captivating riffs. You can hear the different influences in the melody, but they combine to create a rounded sound that enhances the performance.

The vocal performance is smooth with great harmonisations to emphasis the lyrics. The lyrics themselves have a pleading tone to them while overall there is a bit of sadness to this track. While it is a fairly laid-back song, there are a lot of elements that combine to make it easy to listen to and mesmerising.

Hollows hook you with captivating melodies and riffs while getting you to sing along to catchy lyrics in ‘Apologise’. The track is easy to listen to and you are left shocked when you reach the end because you don’t want it to stop. It is clear to see why this track has already become a fan favourite.
