Happy Reality – You & Me (2025)

Drawing together the musical stylings of Josh Hughes (vocals and rhythm guitar), Lewis Baker (lead guitar), Callum Thomas (bass), and Mike Jones (drums), Happy Reality is a UK-based blast of joyful sound. One of the more exciting emerging acts in the UK indie-rock scene, the lads offer tender, warm, smile-inducing vibes with a bold indie-rock beat. We came across the lads last year with their debut single, ‘Dreams’. Join us today as we turn on the volume listening to the new single ‘You & Me’.

Following the well-received 2024 singles ‘Dreams’ and ‘What You Need’, Happy Reality steps into 2025 with ‘You & Me’. While the group might have been building a vintage indie-rock style, ‘You & Me’ shows another facet of their musical personality. Recorded and produced by Jonathan Tringham, the new song draws together indie flavours of yesteryear and today. Moreover, the song might lie amidst indie-rock, but Happy Reality starts to demonstrate their eclecticism with swirls of alternative rock fluttering in the tune.

Soft and soothing, listening to ‘You & Me’ is like setting off on a glistening sonic river. Comfortable, content and undoubtedly brimming with happy vibes, the music lulls you into a peaceful, laidback calm. In a harmonic wave of bold drums, pulsating bass, and dynamic guitars, there is a swooning sincerity oozing from the track; a particular shout-out to Hughes’ dulcet vocals enhancing the charm of Happy Reality. Interestingly, despite the sophisticated production, a glimpse of something raw, vulnerable and fragile lingers in ‘You & Me’.

After four minutes of soul-stirring music, like a refreshing breath of air filling your lungs, ‘You & Me’ leaves you with a blissful sense of “oh, I feel much better after listening to that”. Happy Reality – what an apt name for a band because that is exactly what they are, a happy reality.
