Greg Bounce – Find A Love (2023)

Known for his smooth electropop sounds, singer-songwriter Greg Bounce can soothe your soul while igniting your heart. Originally hailing from the UK, Bounce chose to relocate to Portugal in 2020 as Lisbon appeared to be more conducive to the warm beats of his music. Not to say London isn’t conducive to creativity but it is a lot colder when you need heat to thrive. With critical acclaim from various publications and radio stations, including The Other Side Reviews (that’s us), Bounce is sending good vibes across the globe with his magical melodies. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Find A Love’.

On the heels of his well-received single ‘Friends In Towns’, Greg Bounce adopts a sprightlier vibe in ‘Find A Love’. While there is still that melodic warmth following through the melody, it appears more upbeat than in his previous release. Charming and elegant, you find yourself swimming through a brightly coloured sonic river as the music seeps into your skin. Singing about summer, it makes sense that ‘Find A Love’ would have a magical quality to its lilting synth-pop tones.

Recorded at Low Four Studios in Manchester, ‘Find A Love’ is a collaboration between Bounce, producer Samuel James, and talented musicians Brendan Williams (guitar), Robin Richards (bass), Andrew Richardson (drums) and Liviu Gheorghe (pianist). Leaning toward the 90s house meets electropop sound, there is a nostalgic whimsy in the song. Moreover, this whimsy and wistful ambience is enhanced by the interspersed jazz piano at the core of the melody.

It is true that the soundscape has an overall sense of unbridled joviality and optimism in its cheerful tune, but its light-hearted carefree vibe hides something far more complex and intricate.

“The song’s backdrop is pretty bleak: a feeling that life ends for us all, but I like the feeling that we might as well have a bloody interesting time while we’re here” – Greg Bounce on ‘Find A Love’
