Gianfranco GFN – Sing The Song (2022)

Earlier this year I was introduced to the Switzerland-based musician Gianfranco GFN with his single ‘Supernatural (It’s The End)’. Brimming with a kaleidoscopic passion for music, Gianfranco GFN saunters across various genres captivating audiences of all ages and preferences. On one side he presents a confident acid jazz sound while the next single offers a funk rock design. Along with his bandmates, his toe-tapping and hip-swaying tunes have people dancing across the globe. Come with us as we delve once more into his eclectic discography.

One of his earlier compositions, ‘Sing The Song’ was released in 2022 following the well-received singles ‘Hope’ and ‘Reporter’. Over the years, Gianfranco GFN dipped into the realms of rock, funk and bossa nova; however, ‘Sing The Song’ proved the artist’s versatility early on with its reach to reggae and funk-rock. While ‘Hope’ and ‘Reporter’ remained true to Gianfranco GFN’s jazz roots, ‘Sing The Song’ clicked in with great originality, innovation and eclecticism.

Recorded across Switzerland, Italy and Cote d’Ivoire, ‘Sing The Song’ laps up the European and African influences. Rich and flowing but with an abrupt vulnerability, the single caresses your cheek with a warm finger but keeps you at arms-length in a groovy vibe. Once again touching on intimate themes, ‘Sing The Song’ explores a reprieve from societal pressures. For me, the horns and guitars do have a tranquil feel but the full force of ‘Sing The Song’ is heard in Vladimir Crabone’s bold vocals.

“Sometimes stop for a moment, have a flash… imagine unplugging from everyday life and start singing and dreaming… let go and let go like the free air. Listen to this song, breathe, go into your dreams and imagination just for a moment of happiness…”

In addition to the single, Gianfranco GFN released a music video for ‘Sing The Song’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
