Giack Bazz – The Moon Is Painted (2024)
Performing as Giack Bazz, UK-based singer-songwriter Fredrico Giacobazzi elegantly weaves a sonic tapestry of alternative pop, indie-pop and indie-rock. While his debut album, Childhood Dream, reached the masses in 2016, Bazz began indulging his passion for music several years before writing his first song in 2008. The strong encouragement of his bandmates prompted him to explore a solo project, and we are thrilled for that. In the past eight years, Bazz has released several critically acclaimed singles and albums including the 30-track album Haikufy. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘The Moon Is Painted’.
Bazz captured our eye last year with his album Just A Little Bit More Famous showcasing his versatility as he jumped from grunge track ‘Through With Sick And Sacred Stuff’ to indie-rock ‘Rant’ and the obscure indie-folk/indie-pop ‘Indie Love Song’. Following his single, ‘Come Te’, Bazz shifts from a tender jazz ballad to an indie-rock with an alt-rock kick in ‘The Moon Is Painted’.
Strutting through several flavours of rock, ‘The Moon Is Painted’ captures the heavier clasp of alternative rock with pounding drums and scorching guitars; a quick shoutout has to be made to the crashing guitar solo woven through the bridge. Yet, while a heavy profoundness leaps from the powerful melody, an odd lightness flickers from the six-singer choir lifting Bazz’s smooth, calming vocals out of the darkness. Smooth and harmonic, ‘The Moon Is Painted’ has an elegant flow; however, an off-kilter trombone inserts eclectic edginess with a piercing sharpness that is both welcome and slightly disconcerting.
Originating as a simple lead line, ‘The Moon Is Painted’ blew up to an anthemic track that is soothing and sincere but simultaneously harsh and blunt. It is this innovation and skill to draw together contrary sounds and emotions in a mellifluous melody that shows Giack Bazz’s masterful artistry.
In addition to the single, Giack Bazz released an official music video for ‘The Moon Is Painted’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
