Georgia Crandon – Changin’ Tracks (2024)

Drawing together various genres, styles and eras, singer-songwriter Georgia Crandon has not only concocted a unique sound but merges the old with the new. From retro soul and blues tunes to modern-day funk, Crandon oozes sincerity, sentimentality and sensuality with serene obscurity. Not only are her songs intriguing from a melodic perspective, but the lyricism laced across the tune captures universal and timeless messages with an intimate charm. If this is your introduction to Georgia Crandon, then welcome to the party. If you’ve already come across her music before, welcome back to another fascinating ride across her discography. Join us as we gander at her latest release, ‘Changin’ Tracks’.

Following her well-received single ‘Make Me Yours’, Crandon’s ‘Changin’ Tracks’ continues her signature neo-soul style, but catches a shimmer of indie-rock. Taken from her upcoming debut album – produced with notable producer Darren Bazzoni –  ‘Changin Tracks’ fits perfectly with the “Tarantino-esque cinematic vibe” of the 12-track project. If you were to imagine a tribute song for The Bride in Kill Bill, Crandon delivers with the new single. A song that not only captures the raw power and passion in a gritty melody but delves into the complexity of The Bride and Bill’s romance…  Not them specifically, of course, but a lyrically altered personal narrative of Crandon’s first break-up.

“When I was struggling with the aftermath of my first break up, I received some advice: “Never let yourself be treated like a maybe.” That changed my perspective entirely and reminded me of my worth which got me through the mess. I don’t think you can call it a functioning relationship when you feel like you’re halfway down your partner’s list of priorities… I had a word with myself, reconsidered my boundaries and priorities my own mental health and self-value, even if it meant burning a load of bridges.” – Georgia Crandon on ‘Changin Tracks’

Often compared to iconic artists like Amy Winehouse, Crandon’s vocals are off-kilter; however, as obscure as they may be, there is a calming emotion shimmering across her troubled yet confident alto. Defining Crandon, not only on ‘Changin’ Tracks’, is nearly impossible. She resonates with listeners with weighty confidence but peeks behind with an intimate personal fragility.
