Galaxy Thief – Years (2023)

Known for their energetic, vibrant and intoxicating live performances, indie-rock group Galaxy Thief is quickly building a loyal following with their engaging style. Having toured extensively throughout the UK, including the Invaders of the Future stage at BESTIVAL, the foursome is not a newbie in the sonic pool; however, their music retains a freshness and exuberance so you feel like you are hearing them for the first time every time. Described by publications as “…one of the UK’s rapidly burgeoning indie-rock bands…” (Renowned For Sound), “energetic and vibrant…” (Indie Central Music), and “…incredibly anthemic” (It’s All Indie), Galaxy Thief is not to be missed. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Years’.

Embracing 2023 with fresh eyes, ears and ambitions, Galaxy Thief shares their track ‘Years’ with audiences. Following the song ‘I Need You’, the lads present a honed and sophisticated sound in this new single. I am not by any means saying their previous material is unsophisticated or any less elegant, but ‘Years’ seems to have a rich robustness and maturity exceeding the band’s young years. Leaning toward the alternative and indie-rock sounds of the 1990s, there is a nostalgic flair to ‘Years’. The thing is, while ‘Years’ can sit alongside All American Rejects, Motion City Soundtrack or Yellowcard, a gritty innocence can be heard enhancing the song’s rawness.

In an interview with Indie Top 39, Galaxy Thief explains that they “…try not to take ourselves” and connect with listeners through their music. Using natural storytelling skills alongside harmonic instrumentation, Galaxy Thief can turn your head, carry you along a sonic path and see you come out the other side with deeper insight, acceptance, and a grin on your face. ‘Years’, as well as other material like ‘Reason’, is just another example of their heart-warming, tender and charming style.
