Gabriella – Stranger To You (2022)

Growing up in a musical household, singer-songwriter Gabriella was not short of influences. In fact, her late grandmother (actress and singer) played a large role in her life encouraging Gabriella’s musical development. After moving to Israel at a young age, the UK-born artist discovered music was a way of overcoming the challenges of relocating to another country. She shares that “the very first time hearing Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ was the turning point in my life, I understood the power of music and its positive effect…” Come with us as we take a listen to Gabriella’s debut single ‘Stranger To You’.

Embracing her passion for music, Gabriella presents an intriguing fusion of her British and Mediterranean backgrounds with tinges of soul, blues and jazz. Penned by her beloved grandfather, ‘Stranger To You’ is a song about love overcoming social, physical and emotional distances – “how love is borderless and endless”. Produced by Soho Sonic Studios, ‘Stranger To You’ is Gabriella’s debut track soon to be followed by an upcoming EP.

With an aim of sharing intimate and relatable songs, ‘Stranger To You’ has a personal narrative that connects with listeners from the first chord. Adopting a commercial pop style, the song is toe-tapping with a heart-warming charm, which makes sense considering the tender concept of borderless love. I wouldn’t place Gabriella in the same box as Amy Winehouse, but the tone behind her rich, smooth vocals shows the attitude. Filled with passion, power and elegance, the single has sophistication in its flowing melody.

Sincere, sentimental and introspective, ‘Stranger To You’ has a sense of vulnerability and fragility in its theme overlaid by a bold, dynamic melody. I cannot wait to hear more from this talented singer-songwriter.
