Frank Joshua – Fertile Mind (2025)
From blues and indie-pop to synth-pop, alternative rock, funk and a hint of classical, singer-songwriter Frank Joshua has shown us various sides to his multi-faceted personality over the past few years. Given this eclectic range of genres, it’s rather easy to say that Joshua is anything but a one-trick pony – and we’re not complaining. Earlier this year, we were entranced with his critically acclaimed single ‘Walls’; before that, it was ‘Torture’ that kept us intrigued. Today, we sit back, relax, kick our feet up and prepare for the latest from this talented musician: ‘Fertile Mind’.
One of the tracks off Joshua’s upcoming album – to be released later this year – ‘Fertile Mind’ saunters through the realms of folk, dream-pop, and indie-rock with the glimmer of alternative rock clinging to the sonic bubble. Produced with long-time collaborator Tony White, the single is soothing, calming, and gentle; however, within the mellifluous flow, there seems to be a lingering raw vulnerability intricately woven into the evocative melody.
As with much of his music, Joshua highlights authenticity and originality in ‘Fertile Mind’. In oscillation between a sonic ebb and flow, the track is not quite comfortable nor uncomfortable in its immersive vibrancy. Joshua’s rich vocals lead the way as his rough tone is overtaken by a soul-stirring warmth; then again, just as you find yourself cosying up to a tender chat through the poetic lyricism, a burst of empowerment and optimism makes things… um, bigger than life.
Melodically, ‘Fertile Mind’ is appealing and exciting, but its lyrics enhance the glimpse into humanity. Frank Joshua explains:
“Too often we stigmatise creatives and their work when they’re often the sparks that ignite new ideas and processes… The song is trying to think about how the world doesn’t tend to like people who think differently.”
In addition to the single, Frank Joshua released an official music video for ‘Fertile Mind’. You can view the video below and/or on Frank Joshua’s YouTube channel.
