Four Faces – Overnight (2025)

If you have a sweet tooth for vintage Radiohead, Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club, the chances are likely you’ll be drawn to Irish group Four Faces. Blending elements of indie rock with alternative rock, and a hit of pop with charming folk slithering through the melodies, Four Faces slick various flavours of rock in their eclectic brand of sound. We first came across the quartet last year with their single ‘Part Of You’, and today we delve headfirst into the most recent release, ‘Overnight’. Join us on this exciting venture, won’t you?

Following the critically acclaimed 2024 single ‘Part Of You’, ‘Overnight’ is Four Faces first step into the New Year. The second track from their upcoming debut EP – a highly anticipated one, I must mention – ‘Overnight’ combines the natural talent of  Daniel Ffrench, Eoin Butterfield, Tommy Malone and Diarmuid Goggins in its delicate indie-rock finishings. Yet, while there is a strong indie-ness to ‘Overnight’, Four Faces eccentricity shines through with shimmers of alternative rock and indie-pop, while some modern-day disco meets funk belies the tune.

Recorded and produced with Cian Synnott and David Anthony Curly, with mixing and mastering by Aidan Cunningham, ‘Overnight’ is a rollercoaster of sound and emotion. From the soaring guitars and pulsating drums to twinkling keyboards, the rush of rock mixes with disco in a kaleidoscopic sonic swirl of music. Interestingly, while each instrument is woven together in a harmonic symphony, including the rich vocals, every aspect shines with individuality. The song demands you listen to everything and celebrate those few minutes of music.

Sincere, sentimental and a song to twirl about with a mischievous smile on your face, ‘Overnight’ is plush joviality; however, profoundness lies in the theme. Tapping on the complexities of relationships, the track  “explores the push and pull dynamic of two individuals navigating their relationship…” If ‘Overnight’ is anything to go by, I cannot wait for Four Faces’ upcoming EP.
