Floss Jordan – Cigarette (2024)
Overflowing with creativity and natural talent, Floss Jordan is a chameleon sauntering across various artistic realms. Initially trained as a dancer, UK-based Jordan has performed with Charli XCX, and danced in advertisements including an Apple Music spot. As a graduate of BIMM in music production, she swims through the world of music as an international DJ, producer and singer-songwriter boasting critical acclaim from curators across the globe.
Her confident live performances intoxicate audiences, and she has shared the stage with Basement Jaxx; as well as performing at the BBC Studios, Gordon Ramsay’s Lucky Cat & Bread Street, Mayfair Bar, Soho Radio and even the Natural History Museum. As a performer, Jordan also tipped her hat as a model working with Tommy Hilfiger and gracing the runway of London Fashion Week. Elegant, enigmatic and attention-grabbing at a head-whirling speed, Floss Jordan hits you between the eyes with, well, just being herself. This is our introduction to Jordan, and we dip into her role as a musician.
Following her well-received singles ‘Clay’ and ‘Turbulence’, she bursts into 2024 with ‘Cigarette’. Last year, Jordan shifted from strong electronic beats in upbeat dance tunes to atmospheric ballads swirling about in a haze of synths; this year, her sound continues to evolve inserting a deeper, more intense dark pop with electronic beats. Jordan explains: “the dancer inside me wanted to produce a track with both electronic and atmospheric sounds…”
Bold and powerful but subdued and wistful, Jordan’s sensuality oozes through a kaleidoscopic sonic river. The moon glitters along its glass-like surface comfortably bopping along; however, a tumultuous swirl of dark water lies beneath. Tapping into the complexity of toxic relationships, intimate vulnerability lies beneath in a twirl of yearning, lust and confusion.
In addition to the single, Floss Jordan released a music video for ‘Cigarette’. You can view the video below or via her YouTube channel. Please note that his video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
