Fire Jane – Blind (2020)

Fire Jane closed the last year off with the dance-worthy power-pop single ‘Blind’. Touching on the eyes being the window to the soul, the single considers keeping the windows open or closed. This metaphor is used to look at the act of moving on or not all to a pulsing dance vibe that will get you moving while contemplating the message of the track.

The single continues her effort to create music that is uplifting and filled with feel-good vibes. Inspiration for her music comes from anything that moves her at the time which has led to releases ranging from tropics inspired adventures to pumping EDM beats.

The warbling opening of ‘Blind’ draws you in only for the electronic strings to sideswipe you. They pulse before vibrating synths enter and sink the melody. This does not remain for very long as the chorus pulses with lively and infectious dance beats. The lively tones remain to fill you with addictive dance energy. You can easily see this single being played at a club as people go crazy to it. The beats capture everything you love about dance while giving the vocals a chance to hit you with a melodic pop styling.

Fire Jane’s vocals are interesting on the track as she swings from pumping dance vocals to a more commercial pop sound. It showcases the power of her voice as she rises above the dance beats on the chorus while filling you with neon light. Her vocals merge with the beats at times to pulse through you. While you need to dance to the single, the lyrics have a much deeper message than the music makes you think. Taking the time to listen to the lyrics will have you falling into a contemplation of moving on while your body does its own thing.

Fire Jane has you thinking on a serious topic while getting your body moving to her dance beats with ‘Blind’. There is an infectious energy to the single that comes through in both the melody and vocals that force your body to move. This upbeat energy is a little at odds with the rather deep lyrics that consider whether or not to move on and let people see who you really are.
