Dreams can lead to a lot of confusing thoughts and emotions that lead to new understandings. One dream Filip Karol had led in a different direction and resulted in his single ‘Thousand of Different Moons’. Washed with acoustic tones, the single picks up the threads of his dream and weaves them into an intricate and mesmerising story.
Carrying on his strong emphasis on melodies and vocals, Karol draws the strings of rock and pop together for his sound. The track is the third off his upcoming debut album Pink Cow that was recorded over five years. While his music draws inspiration from cinema, this can be clearly seen in the official music video for the track.
The drums and cymbals that open ‘Thousand of Different Moons’ brings a wonderful soft rock feeling to the track. This slides into the acoustic tones that sweep through your senses like a rush of air. There is a wonderfully light feeling to the sweeping piano line that dances across your ears and has you floating on the river of sound. Through all of this, an earthy feeling creeps into the melody and has you swaying to the rhythm. The melody is packed with delicate tones that draw you into the emotions of the tapestry Karol waves. Later in the track, there is a touch of dark almost gothic vibes that slip through the low levels but they fade to the power of the gentle acoustics.
The rock-pop vibe of the track is enhanced by Karol’s vocals. The high line that howls through the top of the track dips to his rough timbre. The slightly husky vibes of the verse lifts for the chorus which offers a brighter feeling to the track. Throughout the single, those howling tones from the opening make an appearance and add this wonderful edge to the song. As his vocals pick at your emotions, the lyrics tell a really beautiful story that is deeply touching.
