Fernando Honorato – A Million Times (2025)
Most well-known for his work as singer-songwriter of Principe Valiente – an evocative post-punk band who we happened to interview a few years ago – Fernando Honorato knows how to turn heads with eclectic, obscure and authentic music. Praised for his atmospheric compositions and moving vocals, Principe Valiente earned critical acclaim, international coverage, and has stamped its name on the post-punk and dark-pop music scenes. Today, we view Honorato as more than just part of a fantastic group as we explore his new solo project. Join us as we delve into his debut single, ‘A Million Times’.
Marking a pivotal point in his musical journey, Honorato turns at the crossroads embarking on something entirely his own; hence, we have ‘A Million Times’ and the upcoming solo album. Produced by Honorato with co-production by Hans Olsson, ‘A Million Times’ retains the sophisticated post-punk sound we have come to expect from the Sweden-based artist. Yet, while maturity and elegance ooze from the composition, a darker, deeper vulnerability exudes with rough, gritty, almost naïve complexity.
Dragging us back to the 1980s post-punk scene, hints of Depeche Mode flutter in ‘A Million Times’; however, just as there is a whisper of yesteryear’s post-punk sound, Honorato retains a certain freshness and uniqueness – particularly with the obscure baritone vocals. Awash in a kaleidoscopic haze of bold beats and synth-driven keys, you might feel dragged into a musical fog with waves of sound beating down, but Honorato’s voice lingers in the melody acting as an anchor and a guiding hand through the music.
While the evocative melody is vibrant and ensnares your senses, it is the lyricism that brings profoundness to an already weighty song. A dark lament, Honorato weaves through tragedy and conflict in ‘A Million Times’. Then again, this is not something sad but an intimate celebration of life, empowerment, and self-discovery.
In addition to the single, Fernando Honorato released an official music video for ‘A Million Times’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel.
