Feliciano – I’m A Libra (2023)
The solo project of composer Christian Feliciano, Feliciano is a heartfelt, romantic and sensational slice of music in the 21st century. Inspired by the likes of The Killers, Coldplay, Keane, Arctic Monkeys and Leonard Cohen, the Puerto Rican artist began his musical career in 2019 – and man, it becomes even better and more beautiful as the months pass. Already on our pages, we have been introduced to Feliciano, but he is turning heads across the globe with coverage from Info Music, Euro Indie Music, Indie O’Clock, iHeart Radio, and many more. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘I’m A Libra’.
Following his track ‘The Bounceback’, Feliciano adopts an energetic synth-pop meets indie-pop sound in ‘I’m A Libra’. Penned and produced at his home in Rincon, Puerto Rica, ‘I’m A Libra’ seems to have a more tender, heart-warming and intimate sensation to it. I’m not saying in-studio or live recordings are by any means not tender, but the depth and personal connection ooze through in this raw recording.
Depth is not only heard in the melody but relatability and honesty are evident in the lyricism. Embracing the intense intimacy of Leonard Cohen with the inspiration of Japanese city pop, ‘I’m A Libra’ has the sentimentality of a film noir score depicting the “boy meets girl” scenario. As with ‘The Bounceback’, Feliciano explores personal relationships and, in ‘I’m A Libra’, tussles with the confusion, frustration and insatiable sensation of “not making a mistake”.
“I’m A Libra’ is a song about the overwhelming feeling of meeting somebody and liking that person so much that you are afraid of making a mistake, you want to continue seeing and meeting the person, but you feel insecure that you will say or do something to drive them away. The song is even more so a song of hope because, despite the fear, you still want to continue seeing them and you want to fall in love.” – Feliciano on ‘I’m A Libra’
Sincere, sentimental and introspective, Feliciano brings a refreshing and eclectic breath of air to modern-day music.
