Faint Rings – Lemonade (2024)

Infectious, intoxicating, energetic and enthusiastic – Faint Rings can run rings about your head and heart with his engaging music. A bad pun, I know, running rings about audiences, but it is entirely the truth. With only four singles to his name (at least on Spotify), the UK-based artist is not only a name in his native England; he is quickly turning heads far beyond his UK borders. This is our introduction to Faint Rings and while we might be slightly late to the party, there are always parities that are better late than never. Faint Rings is one of these parties. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Lemonade’.

Following his well-received single ‘I Call You’, ‘Lemonade’ sees Faint Rings take his electropop sound to another level. Inserting an eclectic obscurity into his music, the new single retains a signature electronic pop tone, but shimmers of alternative pop clings to the energetic melody. A heavily synth-driven song pulsating with bold beats, ‘Lemonade’ is ideal for the dancefloor tantalising each listener with its insatiable tones. Interestingly, while the track has a strong contemporary edginess, hints of nostalgic synth-pop wistfully glides along as Faint Rings blends eras into a four-minute song.

As I mentioned, this is my introduction to Faint Rings, so I honestly had no idea what to expect and I’m pleasantly surprised. Sharp but sweet, chilled but upbeat, confident and forceful but with a subdued simplicity, ‘Lemonade’ has it all. This new track is not only a song, but also an experience as you’re whipped about in a kaleidoscopic swell of sound. An intriguing element to ‘Lemonade’ is that while you are carried off on a hazy sonic cloud, you are very much in the present pounding along to a new breed of 2024 electronic pop.
