Evi Bosman – Remind Me (2022)

If Phoebe Bridgers were to have a child with Alan Hampton, the chances are it would be Evi Bosman. Based in Rotterdam, the indie-folk artist offers soothing music with a profound complexity. It seems that Bosman has found that delicate balance between poignant and soothing in her modern folk arrangements. Featured on Sinusoidal Music, Clout, Find No Enemy, Indie For Bunnies, York Calling, New Indie Radar and various playlists, Evi Bosman is reaching audiences beyond the borders of The Netherlands. The latest addition to Bosman’s well-received discography is ‘Remind Me’.

Described by York Calling as delicate and captivating, ‘Remind Me’ is an intensely intimate track with an emotive melody. Almost waif-like with a whimsical ambience, the talented singer-songwriter combines an acoustic guitar with rippling guitars and interspersed strings in ‘Remind Me’. Showcasing the beauty of a minimalistic and cinematic soundscape, Bosman illuminates the sonic tapestry with enigmatic vocals. Interestingly enough, while the vocal execution has an ethereal softness, it belies a boldness making you sit back and pay attention.

Beautiful and elegant, ‘Remind Me’ is a sophisticated melody while remaining raw and brutally honest at the same time. Bosman explains that ‘Remind Me’ is a homage to her brother who died from a tragic accident and is one of the ways she chooses to remember him. This concept is perfectly aligned with the exquisite tune as it dusts the song with a melancholic vibe; however, while it is rather poignant one can attain a sense of hopefulness and calm in the melody as she deals with the loss.

This is my introduction to Evi Bosman, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. A fan of Phoebe Bridgers, I was eager to hear this modern-day indie-folk artist – and I am extremely impressed by her emotive musicality. I cannot wait to hear more from Evi Bosman.
