Everything But the Everything – The Story (2022)

With ‘In Love… Again’, Everything But the Everything teamed up with Golden Plates for a dark and atmospheric tale of self-sabotage. He is now finding a funky groove to counter the weight of troubles in the world that bring us down in ‘The Story’. Featuring Sophia Prise on vocals, Landan Cisneros (drums) and Andrew Gomez (synths), the single has a distinct groove to the alternative rock tones.

While the single looks at the troubles of the world, the band considers how we are spoon-fed these issues by the daily news and how the story behind it changes every day. With this single, you can hear how everything seems to find its place, with the instrumentation and towering vocals slotting together perfectly. Spearheaded by the creativity of Izzy the Gent, the band draws on the experience and expertise of his collaborators to make something truly special.

‘The Story’ hits a groove stride from the first note, as the drums and guitars flow through your body. There is an infectious energy to the music that makes you want to move around to it. The melody has an interesting feeling that injects energy into your veins, while placing something heavy that creeps up the back of your neck. Through the music, the band brings the feeling of the weight of the troubles in the world. From the drums to the guitars, you can feel the pressure of the problems in the world. While this can be overwhelming, there is a lightening of the pressure at times, when the energy of the moving melody builds and has your muscles jumping to its rhythm.

While you are moving to the rhythm of the melody, Prise’s vocals tower over the music. Her voice is like a beacon lighting up the soundscape and acts as a shining light that you need to move toward. As you are drawn to her vocals, the lyrics consider all the troubles of the world that cause a downward spiral, as we are alerted to them through the news. This spiral is contrasted by the feeling that the story behind the troubles seems to change. Through all of this, you do have the urge to sing along with Prise’s vocals.

Everything But the Everything and Sophia Prise spiral downward on the flow of world troubles and groovy melodics in ‘The Story’. The melody hits a groovy vibe from the first moment, before filling with an addictive energy. Prise’s vocals are like a beacon beckoning you forward, while shining a light on the pressures and troubles we hear about daily.
