Emmanuel Carlos St.Omer – Falling For Love Again (2023)

Influenced by the likes of Bob Marley, Billy Joel, Jeff Lynn and Peter Tosh, Emmanuel Carlos St.Omer embraces and merges various genres in smooth, engaging melodies. With elegance and sophistication, the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has evolved from a professional radio jingle composer to a well-loved, established artist in the music industry. Following the tragic passing of his 18-year-old son Brandon in 2018, St.Omer captured the intricate emotions of life, loss and longing weaving melodies to touch people’s souls. From his earlier singles ‘That’s What Fathers Do For Their Sons’ and ‘Christmas On An Island Shore’ to 2023’s ‘You are my drug’; the St. Lucia-based musician has reached international audiences to critical acclaim. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Falling For Love Again’.

The final single of 2023, ‘Falling For Love Again’ follows the well-received singles ‘You are my drug’, ‘A Reason for Breathing (Can’t wait for your love)’ and ‘A Lifetime or a Hundred Years’. Shifting from the soulful broodiness of jazz-infused ‘You are my drug’, ‘Falling For Love Again’ taps into commercial pop with hints of soul fluttering in the song. A remote piece, ‘Falling For Love Again’ was penned by St.Omer in St. Lucia, incorporating additional keyboards from Indonesia-based Michael Tjanaka, and engineering by US-based Clay Collins.

Bold beats set the pace for the single, while soothing synths run along giving the track and heartwarming pop feeling. Soft, gentle and smooth, ‘Falling For Love Again’ already captures the warmth of romance in its melody, but it is the soulful vocals that make it a theme song for love affairs. St.Omer explains:

“I got the idea for this song from watching Castaway, the movie with Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt. They really had something special going on before the FedEx plane crash. In the end, they had to accept the fact that the strong love they once shared would never be the same again… Happy endings don’t always happen in real life like they do in Disney movies.”
